As influences from the contemporary art world, the development of Borčić’s painting emphasizes three directions: abstract expressionism, informel and geometric abstraction. His early graphic works were characterized by reflections of organic forms, especially the characteristic theme of the shell, but in later works he opted for a “minimalist confrontation with large formats, planes, colour confrontations and borderlines.”
