Pogačnik Marjan(1920-2012)

The artist has been involved in art since he was a kid, often going to the National Gallery where his uncle Janez Zorman was the director. He later devoted himself to painting and continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. He graduated in 1949 and completed his specialization in painting with Professor Gabriel Stupica in 1951.

He made such a good name in art that he got a seat at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. He was a professor there from 1963 to 1979, and from 1972 to 1982 he was a member of the art committee at the National Gallery

Among his works of art are the most important his abstract etchings and engravings with stylized drawing and ornamental lace patterns in the style of folk art.
